Just as the title says “Welcome to Shrine!”.

My name is Jin and I am the founder of SHRINE COMICS.

I’ve wanted to do something like this for a very long time. I remember very vividly back in my late high school years, wanting to put a Shonen Jump-like magazine together with a bunch of people on the internet. But it never worked out in the end… mainly because I was poor and didn’t realise how expensive it was to put a print magazine together.

You may recognise my name (and my series) from Saturday AM which I was lucky to be a part of in 2018. That was a dream come true for me. I was part of magazine with other amazing creators, but because of my work and family responsibilities, I had to leave. I wasn’t able to commit to it as much as I felt I should be.

So then why make SHRINE?

Well… it all started when I was thinking about the time I was working on the webcomic High School Romance (which is featured on this site). Because I was publishing it page-by-page in webcomic format I was able to be very consistant and realiably upload a page every week.. It’s much easier to manage my time with work and life if I only needed to get one page done a week.

I then started to think that there were probably many very talented and creative people who may be in the same situation as me. People who wanted to tell their stories but don’t have the time (because of life) to commit to a magazine type format.

So I decided to merge the two ideas. Create something that feels like the Shonen Jump-like magazine I used to love but function as the flexible webcomic format that allows for creators to balance creating with the what ever responsibilites they may have with life.

And thus SHRINE was born!

A webcomic site that I hope “feels” like a manga antholgy magazine. We have a incredible hand picked line up of amazing manga. We have awesome “cover art” which will feature collages of all our characters. We will have interviews. We will have competitions. We just have so much planned for the site… it’s actually hard for me to sleep at night because I get so excited.

Well…SHRINE is here now. So I guess it won’t be too long until we show you what we got.

Before I finish off here, I want to say a huge thank you to the creators who have joined me so far on this journey. JKSManga, Schizomi, Anthony Jackson, Berat Ljumani, Strugglin4rtist, Nowar and Christian Sandino. Without you all the launch would not be what it is. I hope SHRINE will bring all your series the audeince they deserve!

To the 2 of you who made it this far in this letter, thank you! You are the reason we all do this. So we hope you stick around because we have big plans for SHRINE. And we are glad you are here for the ride.
